Maria Island Easter Camp…Thank Yous!

Had spent the whole of Sunday sleeping and watching tv in my housemate’s room (he was probably wanting to kick me out for stayin in there for too long..kekeke) till the wee hours of the morning recuperating from the 3 days camping trip to Maria Island from the 13th to 15th April). Wanted to type this when I reached home on Saturday night but I was too exhausted and I was bugged by migraine the day after.

First and foremost I would like to thank all the committee members from International Students Committee, Chinese Society and Malaysian Students Society for all the efforts that have been put into this trip. I would like to thank Nisa especially for giving me an opportunity to be part of the committee before I leave my ’school days’ and insya-allah embark on a different journey in another phase of my life. Thanks to Najjib and Shah who followed us to Maria Island as the ‘Separatist Movement’ and had helped us handle certain situations with their expertise e.g: dismantling the tents and pacifying someone who wanted to see a surgeon for sprained ankle:P Last but not least…the participants who definitely have contributed alot to my learning journey in Tassie and Life in general…I thought I had seen most of what life has to offer but you guys definitely made me realise that I am yet to see more…lol…

I had been to some camping trips prior to this but each one is unique in their own way. I remembered going for the Primary 6 Camp when I was 12 and it was a typical school camp. It was held in the school compund and we had a choice of whether we wanted to sleep in the classrooms or the tents that were pitched in the soccer field. Being my mother’s daughter, I opted straight away for the classroom. When I was 15, it was compulsory for all the Sec 3 students,as part of ‘Character Building’ to go for a week of Outward Bound School Training. We were all given a form for parents to give their consent or object to their child going and I was positive that if I said NO, my parents would willingly oblige me like they often did. However, my papa, being a very outdoor type of person decided that it is good for me and at that time I swore he hated me…lol…He was more excited that I was about the whole thing and I had never seen him shopped more enthusiastically for the things that I needed to bring. For the record, I was the only person there with a Malaysian army backpack…hehehe…That trip definitely changed my perception alot about camping. And I did grew to enjoy the experience in the end…thanks to my papa. After that the only ‘camping trips’ I had, were pitching up tents in numerous beach locations in Singapore with either my whole family or my friends.

The Tassie Experience has definetely added a bit more to my camping experiences and before I take my final bow, I do hope to go for several more. I know, once ‘The Tassie Experience’ ends, it would be back to pitching tents at Sembawang, Pasir Ris, East Coast, West Coast…or if I am lucky, in front of my parents cabin whenever we go for ‘adventurous holidays’…gahahahaha

p.s: to a certain someone…your blog is getting more interesting…i shall attempt to reply to some of the statements you made once i get my momentum back…insya-allah (if GOD is willing…:P)
