One of those days…
Wednesday, September 14th, 2005Melancholia struck…
Reading through my younger sister’s friendster profile made me realised something…
When love comes, it comes naturally and you can’t choose who you fall for…
You can’t force it to leave, it will leave on its own or stays to become one of the memories of a lifetime
But my youngest sis has a different believe…
‘When love becomes too crippling, let it go’
Me personally?
Well…I used to believe that I am incapable of feeling that emotion for anyone without any strings attached…
but Life has a funny way of showing us what we are capable of or otherwise…
Love is a living irony…
Off to a totally different topic…
had a really interesting conversation recently with Shah and Nords…
it made me realise that I am not totally on my own here…well in certain experiences that is…
Overseas education…is a waste of money because…
1) Girls need not be highly educated because they will still end up in the kitchen
2) the certificate from overseas education is useless in local context
3) we are just postponing ‘growing up’
4) people think that we are just enjoying ourselves
5) our parents are rich so we can just waste everything away
6) the money that our parents spend on us to be here can be put to better use
7) I can go on and on…
I do know that some overseas graduates are like (hey! some local graduates are ALSO guilty of such offences!) that but there are also a number of us who do not come from a wealthy family and believe that education is a lifelong process…
Being here made us realise the importance of alot of things…
1) family…my driving force…especially the one Amazon warrior in my heart…my mummy
- we don’t have the priviledge of seeing our family regularly…believe me, months and years of separation from your love ones are never easy
- we don’t get to see our mums and dads and kiss their hands to ask for forgiveness, all we have are their pictures and the occasional calls back home to hear their voices…
- we get left out of family activities especially when something bad happens, we just feel so helpless and alone
2) the value of money
-the sacrifices made so we can have a good future
- contrary to what many people believe, we don’t go around throwing money that is not even ours
3) friends
- they come and go but they leave an imprint in your heart
4) we are the product of our environment
- our surroundings mold us e.g: being a different person in a different environment
- there are people that do not change throughout but I adapt to the people around me…and I would have to re-adapt myself when I eventually go back to Singapore
5) other experiences that money can’t buy
- enough said
